Isaiah 42:1-4, Behold, My chosen One! (Jesus Christ, Messiah)

42:1-4,
1 "Here is my servant, whom I uphold, My chosen One in whom I delight; I will put my Spirit on him and he will bring justice to the nations.
2 He will not shout or cry out, or raise his voice in the streets.
3 A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out. In faithfulness he will bring forth justice;
4 he will not falter or be discouraged till he establishes justice on earth. In his law the islands will put their hope."

 v. 1, God says, ‘Here is My chosen One."(Behold, My chosen One) 'My chosen One' means Jesus Christ to come.
Heb. 12:2, "Let us fix your eyes on Jesus Christ, the author and perfecter of our faith."

What are three features of Jesus Christ ?

1. Behold, the meek Jesus (2).

Verse 2 says, "He will not shout or cry out, or raise his voice in the streets." The worldly leader is escorted by many, preceded by a trumpet, shouting loudly and raising his voice. But Jesus came to the manger and was worshiped by shepherds. He works with humility and gentleness.
Isaiah 53:2, "He grew up before him like a tender shoot, and like a root out of dry ground. He had no beauty or majesty to attract us to him, nothing in his appearance that we should desire him." He ministered like a lamb.
Jesus said, 'Blessed are the meek, for they will inherit the earth.' (Matthew 5:5)

  * Question : Are you serving like the gentle Jesus?
If you meditate on the meek Lord and have ever witnessed it? let us share it.

2. Behold, the merciful Jesus (3)

Verse 3 says, "A bruised reed he will not break, and a smoldering wick he will not snuff out."
"A bruised reed" or " a smoldering wick" means saints and weak human in God. Jesus does not break our frailty, not snuff out our dying life, but upholds with mercy.

 * Question : Have you ever thought that you are a bruised reed or a smoldering wick?
How then did you overcome it?
Jesus does not break us like a broken reed, he does not cut us off like a smoldering wick. Let's share our experiences.

3. Behold, Jesus who is not discouraged (4)

  V. 4, "He will not fail, and discourage (frustrate, give up)."
'God of two miles per hour',
 'Slow cooker of God'
God who waits without discouraging us.
  'Snail went into Noah's Ark'
Galatians 6:9, “Do not be discouraged when we do good. If you do not give up, when the time comes you will reap.”
There is no despair to God. There is only waiting.

 * Question : Have you ever felt discouraged with believing in God?
Have you ever wanted to give up when you preached the Gospel?
 Let's share your testimony.

Let us all speak of Jesus to others. "Jesus is meek. Jesus is merciful. Jesus is not discouraged." May we also be gentle and compassionate like Jesus, and not discouraged. ‘I will put my Spirit on him.’ God who promised it, let us be filled with the Holy Spirit. Let us believe in Jesus, preach Him with gentleness, compassion and courage (not discouraged, not frustrated). God bless you. Amen.
