Ex 20: 8-11, Lev 23: 1-3, Dt. 5:12-15, Enjoy the blessing of the Lord's Day (Sabbath)

Ex. 20:8-11, 8 "Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.
9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work,
10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your animals, nor the alien within your gates. 11 For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but he rested on the seventh day. Therefore the LORD blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

Lev. 23:1-3, 1 The LORD said to Moses,
2"Speak to the Israelites and say to them: `These are my appointed feasts, the appointed feasts of the LORD, which you are to proclaim as sacred assemblies.
3"`There are six days when you may work, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of rest, a day of sacred assembly. You are not to do any work; wherever you live, it is a Sabbath to the LORD.

Dt. 5:12-15, 12"Observe the Sabbath day by keeping it holy, as the LORD your God has commanded you.
13Six days you shall labor and do all your work,
14but the seventh day is a Sabbath to the LORD your God. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your manservant or maidservant, nor your ox, your donkey or any of your animals, nor the alien within your gates, so that your manservant and maidservant may rest, as you do.
15 Remember that you were slaves in Egypt and that the LORD your God brought you out of there with a mighty hand and an outstretched arm. Therefore the LORD your God has commanded you to observe the Sabbath day.

* This is an autobiography of Rachel Evans' Searching for Sunday, a journey of a believer who left the church she loved and then returned to the church.

1. Keep the Sabbath (Sunday) well (Exodus 20: 8, Deuteronomy 5:12)

 1) We struggle to worship the Lord in distinction
 2) Eat the food of life abundantly (John 6:51, Psalm 19:10)
 3) Stop the work of the world and do the work of the Lord (Psalm 127: 1,2)
4) Take care of neighbors and unbelievers (Exodus 23:12; Deut. 5:14)

2. The Sabbath (Sunday) is the day of enjoying the rest of creation (Ex 20:11, Gen 2: 3)

   Verse 3, blessed and sanctified.
 * Do you spend the Sabbath day blessed and holy?

3. The Sabbath (Sunday) is the day of enjoying the sentiments saved from sin (Deut. 5:15).

You were a slave in the land of Egypt, and God brought you there from there.
  * Are you enjoying the relief you have on Sunday?

  * Are you doing well on worship, talking to the Lord, taking care of the world, and taking care of your souls on Sunday?

Prayer /
Sabbath and salvation, God, worship and celebrate His resurrection on the Lord's Day, and let us eat the food of life abundantly. Let us stop the world, let the Lord be loved, and live as a channel of blessing to save our neighbors. Let us all enjoy the rest of the Lord's creation and the joy of salvation, and also to our neighbors. Amen.
