Eze.15:1-16:22, The teaching of the vine(15:1-8) and God's abundant mercy(16:1-22)
God is rich in mercy.
He takes care of Israel, who is like an abandoned baby, and marries her and makes her a honorable queen. However, Israel(Jerusalem) worships idols and commits spiritual adultery. Let us not be like Jerusalem, a useless vine, but live honorably as a fruitful vine, a wife who knows God's grace and mercy.
Chapter 15:1-8 continues with verses 1-5, the metaphor of the vine, and verses 6-8, the description of its meaning. Just as a vine without fruit is of little use (15:2-3), a vine that has been burned is of no use at all(15:4-5). Therefore, God wants to burn and destroy those who sin. Therefore, let us strive today to bear the fruit of the Holy Spirit(Gal. 5:22-23), the divine nature(2Pet.1:5-7), and the fruit of evangelism(Acts1:8).
The parable of marriage in Chapter 16 shows the abundant mercy that God gave to Jerusalem, whom He had chosen as His wife. Originally an orphan, Jerusalem was made into a noble queen, like Cinderella. However, she forgot His grace and betrayed Him as an adulterous wife. God wants her to return to the place of grace and be restored.
Dear saints, I bless you to think of the grace of the Lord not only when conditions are good but also in difficult times, and to stay attached to Jesus, the bridegroom, and to walk with the Lord in intimate and deep prayer and the Word of Life, and to live with the Lord through daily worship and fellowship. Amen.
