Eze.8:1-18, What Happened in the Temple (Temple Vision, Chs 8-11)

In chs1-7, Ezekiel declared judgment on Judah’s sins through visions and actions. Now, chs8-11 present the reason for the judgment through the temple vision. The Spirit of the Lord leads him to see what happened in the temple in Jerusalem. That is, the temple, which should be the most holy, was filled with idolatry. What is the lesson that today’s word gives us?

1. Going to the temple in Jerusalem during the vision (1-4): Let’s listen to the message that God gives him through the four things he saw.
*Application question: Is there something that you hide from God?

2. First thing he saw: Idolatry of jealousy(5-6)
*Application question: Am I living a life of compromise between faith and the world by setting up idols such as worldly desires, ego, envy, & jealousy?(3,5)

3. Second thing seen: Worship of beasts and insects(7-13) *Application question: Am I offering a holy worship acceptable to God and always serving the church with a pure heart?(6)

4. Third thing seen: Worship of Tammuz(14-15) *Application question: Do I weep and repent for my sins?

5. Fourth thing seen: Worship of the sun(16-18). In chapter 8, the prophet pointed out the four abominable idolatries of the people. It shows how serious their spiritual corruption and depravity were.

 Beloved saints, What kind of idols are we serving? The idol of jealousy, the idol of unclean beasts and insects, the worship of Tammuz, the worship of the sun god, etc.? I bless you to repent & become blessed saints who worship and follow only God before the holy God.
