Mt.6:11-15; 18:21-35, Pray like this 4(Forgiveness)
Today, we will listen to the Lord’s Prayer, “Forgive us our sins.”
1. Forgive us our sins (11).
This prayer is essential for our souls to be healthy. No matter how devout a believer is, one sins every day(Rom.3:23) and must receive forgiveness of sins, just as one washes one’s feet(Jn.13:10). This prayer is difficult to keep. It is because it has the condition, “as we forgive those who sin against us”(14-15). “How can we forgive our neighbors?
2. Because God has unconditionally forgiven us first.
Thus it is natural for us to forgive our brothers’ sins. Mt.18:21-35 gives a good example, the parable of the unforgiving servant. A servant owed his king ten thousand talents, a huge debt that he could never repay in his lifetime. The king called this servant and ordered him to sell his wife, children, and all his possessions and pay the debt. He begged for his life. At that time, the king called him, took pity on him and forgave him everything. He received a great forgiveness. He had a fellow who owed him a hundred denarii. He asked him to pay it all, but he begged him to wait a little. However, he had him thrown into prison. The people were offended by his merciless behavior and reported it to the king. The king called the servant who owed him ten thousand talents and severely rebuked him and imprisoned him to torture. “Shouldn’t you have had compassion on your fellow servant, just as I had pity on you?” This is Jesus’ conclusion. V.35, “Neither will my heavenly Father forgive you unless you forgive your brother from your heart.”
3. Live in forgiveness and enjoy the joy of forgiveness.
Those who sincerely forgive others can receive the grace of heaven and live as children forgiven by God. I bless you to live a life of forgiveness and gratitude for the grace of Jesus who died on the cross shedding His blood to forgive us. *Testimony of a housewife named Emil Brandt. Let us all forgive our brothers in Jesus. Please earnestly seek the blood of forgiveness on the cross of Jesus and the power of forgiveness on the cross. I bless you to live a blessed life of forgiveness in the grace of Jesus. “Forgive us our sins, as we forgive those who sin against us. Amen.”
