Romans 6:1-11, Dying together and living together

1-11, 1. What shall we say, then? Shall we go on sinning so that grace may increase? 2. By no means! We died to sin; how can we live in it any longer? 3. Or don't you know that all of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?
4. We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.
5. If we have been united with him like this in his death, we will certainly also be united with him in his resurrection.
6. For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin --
7. because anyone who has died has been freed from sin.
8. Now if we died with Christ, we believe that we will also live with him.
9. For we know that since Christ was raised from the dead, he cannot die again; death no longer has mastery over him.
10. The death he died, he died to sin once for all; but the life he lives, he lives to God. 11. In the same way, count yourselves dead to sin but alive to God in Christ Jesus.

<Sermon Summary>
  Just as sin entered the world and reigned through the disobedience of one man, Adam, through the one man Jesus Christ, life came into our midst as the life-giving Spirit who enables us to live in new life. It is the incident of the cross. When Jesus died on the cross, we also died together.
    Our deadness is our carnal nature (what the flesh and the mind desire, Ephesians 2:3, “All of us also lived among them at one time, gratifying the cravings of our sinful nature and following its desires and thoughts. Like the rest, we were by nature objects of wrath”).

  The true meaning of Jesus' cross-bearing is that when our physical body dies, the spirit of Jesus' resurrection becomes united and we live a life of true freedom in heaven on this earth. Dying together and living together, the Spirit of Jesus, that is, the Holy Spirit, dwells in us, and through the Spirit, it is the life-giving spirit that allows us to live like Jesus.

  Romans 8:29, “For those God foreknew he also predestined to be conformed to the likeness of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brothers.” He guides us to follow the example of His firstborn Son.
  This does not vaguely mean that we will die and go to heaven, but that we live as if the Lord lived on this earth with His Spirit. The Lord, who is spirit, accomplishes His will within our bodies.
  Dear believers, we all declare that our fleshly nature died with Jesus, and we bless you to live a life of new life with the resurrection of Jesus. Amen.
