Acts 2:1-13, All were filled by the Holy Spirit

1.When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place.
2.Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting.
3.They saw what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them.
4.All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.
5.Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven.
6.When they heard this sound, a crowd came together in bewilderment, because each one heard them speaking in his own language.
7.Utterly amazed, they asked: "Are not all these men who are speaking Galileans?
8.Then how is it that each of us hears them in his own native language?
9.Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia,
10.Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome
11.(both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs -- we hear them declaring the wonders of God in our own tongues!"
12.Amazed and perplexed, they asked one another, "What does this mean?"
13.Some, however, made fun of them and said, "They have had too much wine.“

<Sermon Summary>
The Holy Spirit comes to those who long for Him. 2,000 years ago, the believers who gathered in Mark's upper room in Jerusalem prayed earnestly for 10 days with one mind. On the day of Pentecost, an amazing thing happened where the Holy Spirit came upon everyone(1-4). Everyone from 15 territories was able to hear Peter's sermon in Aramaic in their own language. We communicated in one language. What is God's message?

1. Language became confused due to the Tower of Babel incident (Gn. 11:1-9).
Gn. 11:1-9, 1.Now the whole world had one language and a common speech. 2.As men moved eastward, they found a plain in Shinar and settled there. 3.They said to each other, "Come, let's make bricks and bake them thoroughly." They used brick instead of stone, and tar for mortar. 4.Then they said, "Come, let us build ourselves a city, with a tower that reaches to the heavens, so that we may make a name for ourselves and not be scattered over the face of the whole earth." 5.But the LORD came down to see the city and the tower that the men were building. 6.The LORD said, "If as one people speaking the same language they have begun to do this, then nothing they plan to do will be impossible for them. 7.Come, let us go down and confuse their language so they will not understand each other." 8.So the LORD scattered them from there over all the earth, and they stopped building the city. 9.That is why it was called Babel -- because there the LORD confused the language of the whole world. From there the LORD scattered them over the face of the whole earth.
They were arrogant, rebelled and rebelled against God, and tried to make a name for themselves. Eventually, God came down and confused (Babel) their language. Discord, hatred, and strife continued throughout the world.

2. God makes languages one through the descent of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost (2:5-13)
God allowed people from 15 regions (9-11) to communicate as one in one language. He had everyone interpret simultaneously in their own language. This means that He makes us one. The Holy Spirit is the spirit of unity. Jesus also died on the cross to make us one. The spirit of the cross is to become one with the Father and one with people. Look at the three phenomena of the descent of the Holy Spirit.
 1) Sound (ear-hearing): A sound like a rushing and strong wind was heard (tornado, hurricane, typhoon?) 3,500 years ago, when Moses met God on Mount Horeb, he heard the sound of a trumpet and the voice of God. 2800 years ago, Elijah also heard the voice of God on there. Like the sound of the wind, those who are born of the Holy Spirit do not know where they come from or where they go. Jn.3:8, The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear its sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit."
 2) Visible (eye-visual): They saw split tongues of fire, one on each of the 120 people. It shows that God the Holy Spirit came personally and personally to each person. Moses also saw fire. What is important here is the question of what such phenomena were for. Being filled with the Holy Spirit is not emotional filling or evidence of forgiveness of sins. It is connected to the ability to speak ‘other languages’, which is the ability to spread the gospel. Only, “God raised Jesus, whom you killed on the cross. He broke the power of Hades and Satan and was resurrected. “You also believe in him and acknowledge him as Lord and Christ.” This is the gospel proclamation of the early church. They who received the Holy Spirit made this declaration.
 3) The words spoken were heard as their own (8). Language became a means of communication for everyone. The coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost and the work of speaking in tongues have the meaning of restoring the Tower of Babel incident (the failure of communication in Genesis 11).
To this day, people are arrogant, stand up against each other, and live a life where words do not make sense.) When you receive the Holy Spirit, when you are filled, amazing things happen. They were all filled with the Holy Spirit. The world of lack of communication has changed into a world of distribution. “I can talk to that person.” The lack of communication changed into monetary communication. We became able to communicate with each other. First, it changed into a good relationship with God and then with family and neighbors. Let us like worship, prayer, and the word. We love meeting Jesus. We become one, pray together, and love people we hate. Repent of your sins. The mother-in-law and daughter-in-law repent and their relationship becomes good. Let us all live a life of communication.

3. Those who receive the Holy Spirit change(2 Cor.5:17).
If we believe in Jesus, we too have received the Holy Spirit. Those who receive the Holy Spirit change. 2 Cor.5:17, Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!
We speak and act in one Spirit (1 Cor. 12:12,13, 12.The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ. 13.For we were all baptized by one Spirit into one body -- whether Jews or Greeks, slave or free -- and we were all given the one Spirit to drink.). Our words are also one. The words of the Holy Spirit, the words that convey Jesus Christ. We are one on the foundation of the word of life (Ephe.2:20, built on the foundation of the apostles and prophets, with Christ Jesus himself as the chief cornerstone.).
Everyone united and prayed, worshiped, loved, and evangelized with one heart. I wish we had a life like this. I hope there is a work of Jesus' life, my life, and our life. Amen.
