Dan 2:1-13, People who are troubled (Sleepless king, wise men)

2:1-13,
1. In the second year of his reign, Nebuchadnezzar had dreams; his mind was troubled and he could not sleep.
2 So the king summoned the magicians, enchanters, sorcerers and astrologers to tell him what he had dreamed. When they came in and stood before the king,
3 he said to them, “I have had a dream that troubles me and I want to know what it means.”
4 Then the astrologers answered the king, “May the king live forever! Tell your servants the dream, and we will interpret it.”
5 The king replied to the astrologers, “This is what I have firmly decided: If you do not tell me what my dream was and interpret it, I will have you cut into pieces and your houses turned into piles of rubble.
6 But if you tell me the dream and explain it, you will receive from me gifts and rewards and great honor. So tell me the dream and interpret it for me.”
7 Once more they replied, “Let the king tell his servants the dream, and we will interpret it.”
8 Then the king answered, “I am certain that you are trying to gain time, because you realize that this is what I have firmly decided:
9 If you do not tell me the dream, there is only one penalty for you. You have conspired to tell me misleading and wicked things, hoping the situation will change. So then, tell me the dream, and I will know that you can interpret it for me.”
10 The astrologers answered the king, “There is no one on earth who can do what the king asks! No king, however great and mighty, has ever asked such a thing of any magician or enchanter or astrologer.
11 What the king asks is too difficult. No one can reveal it to the king except the gods, and they do not live among humans.”
12 This made the king so angry and furious that he ordered the execution of all the wise men of Babylon.
13 So the decree was issued to put the wise men to death, and men were sent to look for Daniel and his friends to put them to death.

(Sermon Summary)
1. The dream of King Nebuchadnezzar - The troubled king
Nebuchadnezzar, the great king of the Babylonian Empire, had a dream, but he lost his dream and was troubled and unable to sleep (1,2,3). This is a revelation from God, showing that even worldly power is powerless in the spiritual world. He calls all the wise men of Babylon to solve the problem with threats and rewards, but it is impossible. Nobody was given him his dream.

2. Even the wise men of Babylon who are to be died are troubled and cannot sleep (4, 7, 10).
Usually, people need to hear the contents of a dream to interpret it. But the king does not tell them his dream, and he says he will kill them if they do not tell his dream and its interpretation, so the wise men become die, they are troubled and unable to sleep. Even the philosophy and wisdom of the world cannot save themselves and are powerless. 1 Cor. 1:20, 2:6, We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature, but not the wisdom of this age or of the rulers of this age, who are coming to nothing.

3. Daniel and his three friends also encountered a crisis (12,13). But a crisis is a risk and an opportunity.
They prayed together, and Daniel received God's answer, saved the lives of the Babylonian wise men, and began to tell the king's dream and interpret it. Praise God for allowing this. However, this event serves as an opportunity for Daniel and his three friends to appear on the stage of history, and above all, an opportunity for God, who is in charge of history, to become known to the Gentiles. The Lord of history is God. God places His faithful people on the stage of history. He is working out the plan of salvation.
Everything in life is controlled by God. Therefore, if we entrust our lives to God, we can enjoy rest and peace and sleep peacefully(Ps. 127:2). *Acts 12:6,11, Peter's testimony. Peter, who was imprisoned for preaching the gospel, lay down in the middle of the two soldiers who were watching him, even though he was bound with two chains. He trusted God and slept leaving everything behind. Eventually, with God's help (miracle), the prison door becomes open and sets a free.

God works at the end of life, at the end of mine. Humans should have a humble attitude to rely only on God. This block is the church, and in the church, life at the end of the day meets God, the Creator and Lord. *When Abram also went to Egypt during a famine and nearly lost his wife (Gn. 12:10-20, 13:4). Moses at Mount Horeb in the flames of a bush (Ex 3:6, Burning Bush). David also lived in the cave of Adullam I met God at that place (1 Samuel 22). Daniel in the text also met God in the face of the crisis of death. Poet Ho-seung Jeong's <Spring Road>, “Where the road ends, there is a road. Even where the road ends, there is a person who become the road.” The one who makes himself the way is our Jesus. “I am the way, the truth, and the life; no one comes to his Father except through me” (John 14:6).
Therefore, the value we should seek is only God/Jesus. Behind all things, I pray that you will become blessed saints who believe that the hand of the Almighty Lord, who alone controls history, is at work and runs (Phil. 3:14) while looking at the goal (Heaven, Jesus). Amen.

Conclusion/
The world is full of troubled and sleepless lives. Even if you have the greatest power, wealth, or intellect, if you do not have the true God as your Lord, you cannot sleep with anguish. Therefore, 1. First, let's pursue the kingdom of God and its righteousness.
2.Let's live as a blessed Daniel who fulfills God's word and will through united prayer.
3. Let's overcome any problems and win by relying on God's wisdom and power.
Phil. 3:14, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.
