Rev. 10:1-11, Take the scroll and eat it

John sees a mighty angel descending from heaven and holding an open scroll. He was robed in a cloud, with a rainbow above his head; his face was like the sun, and his legs were like fiery pillars(1,2). The angel stands on the sea and the earth and cries out the sound of thunder (2-3). God reigns over the whole world, and he declares his will with thunder. God's judgment and salvation will be accomplished without delay (6,7). Therefore, we must put our hope in the eternal God and live for Him.

The angel tells John to take the scroll and eat it (9). To eat is to make and follow one's own (Ez. 3:1). He must long for the Word, eat well and put it into practice (Ez. 2:8). The word is sweet as honey in the mouth (Ps.119:103). It gives us joy and delight(Jer.15:16). But my stomach turned sour(9,10).

Persecution and suffering will follow in putting into practice and proclaiming the word eaten. You may lose money or lose a friend. However, if you do not spit out bitterness and practice it patiently, you will grow as a true believer. After having eaten the word, John must now prophesy again to many peoples, nations, tongues, and kings (11). Let us also share the life of Jesus with our neighbors.

As a Christian who follows Jesus, the faithful witness (1:5), I pray that you will become a blessed saint who is faithful to death and receives the crown of life. Amen
