Job 42:7-17 Do you hope for full restoration?

Did you hope in the LORD last week like Isaiah 40:31 said? Did you trust in His promise and wait expectantly? I pray that God strengthened you to soar on wings like eagles and helped you not grow weary or faint when you ran and walked. Today, we will talk about complete restoration. One of the most beautiful words in the Bible is restoration. In what areas of your life, do you wish for a full recovery, complete restoration? It may include recovering physically, mentally, financially, relationally, and spiritually. The Book of Job shows that Job was afflicted with calamities in Chapters 1-2. He lost many of his servants and his animals. He lost his ten children. He lost his health. Job was also afflicted with painful sores from his feet to his head. Even his wife cursed Job. Job’s friends could not comfort him, or give him true consolation. However, Job 42 reveals that the LORD restored Job’s fortunes, gave him twice as much as he had before and made him fully recover after suffering.

1. God restores our health (16).
Job 42:16 writes, “After this, Job lived a hundred and forty years, he saw his children and their children to the fourth generation.” By God’s Grace, He restores our health.

2. God restores our relationships with Him and neighbors (11).
Ephesians 2:14, 16 say, “For he himself is our peace, who has made the two groups one and has destroyed the barrier, the dividing wall of hostility… and in one body to reconcile both of them to God through the cross, by which he put to death their hostility. Job 42:11 also reveals that Job’s brothers and sisters and everyone who had known him came and ate with him in his house. They comforted and consoled him and each one gave him a piece of silver and a gold ring. By God’s Grace through the cross and His love, God restores our relationship with Him and our relationship with spouse, families, and friends. I pray that we will experience God’s full restoration under the cross of Jesus Christ.

3. God restores finances (12).
Job 42:12 writes, “The LORD blessed the latter part of Job’s life more than the former part. He had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, a thousand yoke of oxen and a thousand donkeys.” They are worth about 2 billion. Job 1:3 shows that he owned seven thousand sheep, three thousand camels, and five hundred donkeys before he was afflicted with disasters. God gave him twice as much as he had before.

4. God restores our families (13-15).
Job 42:13-15 tells us that God gave him seven sons and three daughters. God restored Job’s family. Church will be restored when families are restored. May God restore our families and fill us with peace.

5. God restores our faith (5-6).
In Job 42:5-6, Job repents in dust and ashes. Job says his ears had heard of God but now his eyes have seen the LORD. Job’s faith is no longer based on what he had heard of God, but now he has seen Him and experienced Him. God restored Job’s faith by His Grace. 1 Peter 2:9 tells us that we are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that we may declare the praises of him who called us out of darkness into his wonderful light. Tell the world that Jesus lives. We are the light of the world. I pray that we will let our light shine like stars and lead others to Christ who gives us the gift of eternal life. Amen.
