Eze.40:5-27, I'll Measure yourself (the new temple-body)
Eze.40:5-27, I’ill Measure the new temple(body)
1. Are you feeling despair or frustration? (1:1, 40:1) Look to hope (Ps.62:5)
Fourteen years have passed since Judah was destroyed and the temple was destroyed(1:1, 40:1). Everyone is in despair. In this desperate situation, God shows Ezekiel a vision of a new temple. This represents hope for Israel's restoration. The text emphasizes the perfection of God's restoration plan by detailing the blueprint for the new temple.
*What is it about life that is captive or destroyed and thus despairing? There is no hope in the world. Only God and Jesus are our hope. Psalm 62:5, Look only to God.
2. Measure Your Faith & Life (5-24, John 10:7,9)
God emphasizes "measuring." He continues to measure. 5-24, He measures the walls, the gateway, the porch, the gateway, the north gate, the walls, and the rooms. God is the One who measures. He measures everything we have: the depth of our faith, our hearts, our thoughts, our lives, and our every action. Let us confess, “God Father, we come to you with our hands up in despair. Forgive us, sinners. Have mercy on us. Wash us with the blood of Jesus.” This meticulous measurement signifies that the promise given to a people in despair will surely be fulfilled. The wall (42:20) and the gate distinguish the world from the temple. *Are we receiving salvation and abundant food through Jesus, the gate?
3. What is your faith and life like?(Romans 8:32,12:2) Let us reexamine our priorities, habits, and relationships, and restore what is wrong. “Have you entrusted your faith and life to the Lord? I will renew you. I will transform you. I will do it. Give me your heart, your self, your thoughts, and your emotions. I created you. I am your Master and your God. I gave you everything, even my only son, Jesus Christ. What can I not do? I will do it all...”
Prayer: Even in despair, I know that You are my only hope, and I look to You alone. I know that You measure my heart, my faith, and my life. I entrust everything to You, Lord, so please help me live holy and devoutly according to Your will. Jesus, the wall of the temple, help me to remain holy. Help me live with my eyes fixed on the kingdom of God, which will be fulfilled through Jesus Christ, the only salvation, hope, and door. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.
