Dan. 3:19-30,  A Sign in the blazing furnace.

19-30,
19 Then Nebuchadnezzar was furious with Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, and his attitude toward them changed. He ordered the furnace heated seven times hotter than usual
20 and commanded some of the strongest soldiers in his army to tie up Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego and throw them into the blazing furnace.
21 So these men, wearing their robes, trousers, turbans and other clothes, were bound and thrown into the blazing furnace.
22 The king’s command was so urgent and the furnace so hot that the flames of the fire killed the soldiers who took up Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego,
23 and these three men, firmly tied, fell into the blazing furnace.
24 Then King Nebuchadnezzar leaped to his feet in amazement and asked his advisers, “Weren’t there three men that we tied up and threw into the fire?” They replied, “Certainly, Your Majesty.”
25 He said, “Look! I see four men walking around in the fire, unbound and unharmed, and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.”
26 Nebuchadnezzar then approached the opening of the blazing furnace and shouted, “Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, servants of the Most High God, come out! Come here!” So Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego came out of the fire,
27 and the satraps, prefects, governors and royal advisers crowded around them. They saw that the fire had not harmed their bodies, nor was a hair of their heads singed; their robes were not scorched, and there was no smell of fire on them.
28 Then Nebuchadnezzar said, “Praise be to the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego, who has sent his angel and rescued his servants! They trusted in him and defied the king’s command and were willing to give up their lives rather than serve or worship any god except their own God.
29 Therefore I decree that the people of any nation or language who say anything against the God of Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego be cut into pieces and their houses be turned into piles of rubble, for no other god can save in this way.”
30Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego in the province of Babylon.

(Sermon Summary)
Daniel's three friends were sentenced to be burned at the stake for not bowing down to the golden statue. He was actually thrown into the furnace to death. They were worldly dead. They were criminals who were burned at the stake. They were actually thrown into a very hot furnace. Both the king and his servants thought they were burned to death. But they all survived. This was a wonderful sign (miracle + meaning) in the furnace. This is a supernatural miracle of God, and there is a wonderful meaning in it. Today we hope to receive that meaning.

1. Together (‘we’, 16-18), they came to life in martyrdom by risking their lives and trusting in the God of absolute power (28).
They are God-impressed (16-18). “See the vs. 16-18.” God must have been very proud of their martyrdom faith, the faith that did not spare their lives, and the faith of 'Even if He does not'. God saved them from the fiery furnace. He brought them to life perfectly. The fire was a very hot furnace, over several hundred degrees, seven times hotter than usual. The strongest warriors who held them to throw them into the fire were burned to death. So what happens to those who are thrown into the fire? But even in the midst of it, their whole body was intact. With their ears they heard the king's voice, 'Come here with me.' They walked out on two whole feet. They didn't break a single hair on their head. Neither their clothes were burned. There was no smell of burning (27). Isa. 43:2, “...When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze. For I am your Savior.” Amazing God! God has done a great thing!

2. The living God of salvation worked together for good (29-30).
Chapter 3 begins with the stern command, “If you do not bow down to the golden image that the king has set up, you must be thrown into the furnace.” How anxious are you when you think, 'Daniel's three friends are going to die now'? The king was very angry at them for not bowing down to the image, and his face turned into a murderous one. He killed them and threw them into the furnace. How much does your heart sink? But God makes a wonderful reversal. By bringing them back to life, by performing a marvelous miracle, God changes the king's attitude. The king issues a decree to all the people. Not only does he spare them, but he exalts the God (29). The king proclaims to all the people that the Most High God of Salvation has raised them up, so that they may not speak lightly of that God. And he honors Daniel's three friends (30).

3. The God of Immanuel (Jesus Christ, Mt. 1:23) is the answer (25,28).
Today, let us trust in the God of Immanuel, who raised us from the dead in our sins and trespasses and gave us honor (28). Ephesians 2:1, 5,6, ”1 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions and sins, 5 made us alive with Christ ...6 And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus.”
Joseph's success is also the work of God Immanuel. Gn.39:2,3,23, “Joseph was prosperous because God was with him during his sufferings.” Jesus Christ, the Son of God, who is like the “Son of the Gods” (25), is with us today. Daniel's three friends were also with the God of Immanuel (25). They were raised fully in the furnace, and not only were they exalted (30). Therefore, we too can prosper in the God of Immanuel.

Conclusion/ We are spiritually dead in our sins and trespasses. God has saved us and made us honorable.
Aren't we struggling in a crisis like these today? Let's have absolute trust in God Immanuel. Those who desire to die in the Lord live (Mt.16:25). Whether we live or die, we belong to the Lord (Rom. 14:8). Let's keep our faith fidelity to the end. So, I pray that you will live a blessed life that the Lord is with you, saves you, and honors you. Amen.
